I bought this cover for the futon that is on my covered patio and so far it has been perfect for this use because it completely encloses the mattress and zips shut. I have a full size thick mattress and it was not a problem for me to put this cover on by myself because the cover is not too tight. The outside material is terry cloth, so if you were to put sheets over it it may cling to the terry and if you have super soft sheets like I do, you may be able to feel the texture of the terry (but I don't know for sure). The slippery waterproof material is on the inside of the cover which does make the cover slip around on the mattress a little if you have an adjustable futon like I do, but it's nice because you can't feel it from the outside. Also, I think it's worth mentioning that you can "hear" the waterproof side when you first sit down or lay on it, which isn't really a big deal for my purpose and is to be expected when you use a waterproof cover.

Arrived quickly. This is my first futon and I had never seen a futon cover before. This was EXACTLY what I wanted it to be. My futon is outside under a canopy and the waterproof cover is needed. It is perfect.
